Breeders Crown 2024 Finals are Here!!!
This is one of my favorite weekends of the year for harness racing, as the Breeders Crown is back, and it is at one of my favorite venues—The Meadowlands Racetrack. Last week's eliminations were certainly full of upsets and intrigue, with horses losing and finding form for the upcoming big-money races this week. We have incredible coverage on the ITM network with an extended roundtable covering all of the 12 Breeders Crown Finals with experts Edison Hatter, Ray Cotolo, Garnet Barnsdale, John Rallis, and Cheyenne Christman joining me to offer their opinions and insights. Dexter Dunn looks to have quite the weekend lined up, with live contenders in nearly every division. He likely has the driver of the year wrapped up already but looks to add to his death grip over the weekend. The two-year-old pacers this year have gone faster than any in history, and the Final should be a wild shootout with Springtown, Louprint, Sippinonsearoc, Fallout, and Captain Optimistic vying to be crowned champion.
Saturday’s card is loaded from start to finish. Open mares kick it off with Call Me Goo looking the favorite in her new barn in Ake Svanstedt, but she has to deal with M-M’s Dream and a raging Nelsonbriteeagle NO. The three-year-old filly Trot Final looks like a showdown between Drawn Impression and Date Night Hanover, but Allegiant in her new barn could have something to say about the Final. Three-year-old filly Pacers could be the most wide-open race of the night as My Girl EJ looked vulnerable late despite winning her Elimination. Horses like Caviart Belle, Disney, Rocket Deo, and It’s a Love Thing all stand a winning chance with the right trip. The three-year-old boy’s Trot Final took a turn this week as Karl was sick and didn’t enter. This added the unpredictable Highland Kismet back into the race, and he drew post-four. T C I looms the favorite in that spot, but Sig Sauer adds Lasix, looking to build on his big wins this season. Bythemissal looks to repeat his Crown but has to contend with Abuckabett and Ruthless Hanovers. Winner’s Bet and Twin B Joe Fresh will be short prices in their divisions. Then we have the three-year-old colt Final with Nijinsky looking to wrap up divisional honors with a win. Mirage Hanover is the “now” horse with his monster Jug trip and the two recent follow-up fast wins. Captain Albano also won his elimination and wants a piece of those year-end honors. Personally, I can’t wait to see these horses throw down.

~Bobby Pezzulo
Friday Meadowlands Race 6 - (7) Miss Belmar (10-1 ML) Two consecutive strong closing miles in Stakes competition, expect some serious early action setting up her big late close.
~Chris Cooz
Friday Meadowlands Race 7 (9) Miki and Minnie (7/2 ML) - Used twice from post 8 last week finishing 3rd. Dunn puts her in it early and should be there again at the finish despite poor post. Chris Ryder trains, looks for his 7th Breeders Crown Champ.

Friday Meadowlands Race 10 (9) Louprint (6/1 ML) - One of Four from the “Burke Brigade” in here. Expect lots of fireworks - we’re thinking this BC 2YO Pace Final has ‘closer’ written all over it. Lets Go!

Friday Woodbine Mohawk Park Race 4 (9) Share the Moment - Cullenn and partners buy back a horse Travis himself bred and knows well. In a field that struggles for wins, I will try the mare moving back to Team Cullen.

Saturday Northside Downs Race 8 (1) Revenant - Old classy horse drops out of the Open that’s been dominated by Hugh Heff since his arrival to Cape Breton. Draws the pole and reunites with RC who’s 1/1 with him this year. Should be four turns and lights out for the 10 year old 30 time winner.
~Peter McGuigan
Saturday Woodbine Mohawk Race 2 (6) Wildcat Star - was given an easy trip as the chalk after missing 3 1/2 weeks now and she gets post and class relief and Henry in the bike.
